11. A baby, it has eyes that change color

The color of the eyes is determined by the pigment cells, or melanocytes, of the iris. These cells produce a brown pigment, melanin, the same pigment that gives color to your child's skin or hair.
At birth, babies often have blue eyes, because their iris is still devoid of melanocytes. Over time, they will produce their pigments and the iris will change color. A thin layer of these cells produces a yellow color. By combining with blue, other colors appear: green, light brown. When there are many melanocytes, the iris appears brown or black.
A general rule: if light eyes often darken, dark eyes do not lighten.
